About Us
HOW WE WORK
The Commonwealth Countries League(CCL) is a Civil Society Organisation which has about 400 paid members. It has a charity arm the Commonwealth Countries League (CCLEF) which sponsors secondary education for needy girls from the various Commonwealth Countries.
The CCL is run by an Executive Committee comprised of members elected from all parts of the Commonwealth and representatives of many affiliated organisations. Vice-Presidents can also be active members of this Committee.
There is a wide ranging programme of talks and social functions.
Recently we have considered Commonwealth matters relating to:-
- the girl child
- women's role in development
- human rights
There has been a series of seminars on women's affairs and the family and a conference in Marlborough House was held to mark our 75th Anniversary.
Socially we have enjoyed functions at High Commissions and Residences and a reception in The Speaker's House.
An Annual General Meeting is held at which members elect their Executive Committee
MEMBERSHIP and VOLUNTEERING
The CCL welcomes both women and men as members
DO YOU HAVE A SKILL WHICH COULD FURTHER THE AIMS AND WORK OF BOTH THE CCL AND THE CCLEF ?
We are always looking for volunteers, whether members or friends of the League
